The Seaglass Perspective
Life has a habit of tossing us around and wearing us down. Even the most seemingly comfortable life is not exempt from pain and suffering. But what if we were able to see how God has been with us all along? How He is making something beautiful out of us, out of our lives, and even our suffering?
The poem above is about a seaglass marble I found on the beach a few years ago. A marble is a pleasing object, a small sphere of glass that reflects and catches the light. But this seaglass marble had to have been tumbled in the waves for decades to get that completely frosted surface. When I saw it, I could hardly believe I was in the right place at the right time to find it when it finally washed up onto the shore.
I now wear it on a necklace as a reminder that God has been making something beautiful out of me through every experience, whether I deemed them good or bad. He has been making something breathtaking in me for years as I have let Him redeem, reshape, and redefine my story. I’m eager for others to experience this perspective shift as well—to know that nothing is wasted in God’s economy. I’d be honored to sit with you as you learn to pay attention to what God is doing in your life and soul in the here and now. Let’s catch the light together and watch as God does His slow, faithful work.
